Do I Need a Blog

Do I Need A Blog For My Business?

Quick Answer: Yes.  I said what I said. Whether you are a service-based business, a local business, or a small business, you should have a blog on your website.  It may be the last thing you want to do right now, but hear me out. Google likes blogs!  Why? Well here are 3 reasons:

3 Reasons Why Your Business Needs a Blog

1. Google Rewards Up to Date Content

Google is smart. It knows when you are providing value to the virtual universe. A key component of SEO is having valuable and CURRENT content.  Having a blog that relates to your business on your website is the perfect way to accomplish this.

If you are a coach or mentor you can easily create a blog that gives relevant information about mindset, business tools, or lifestyle. If you are a virtual assistant, providing content on your blog about online business tools or organization would be awesome.  Are you local? Maybe a real estate agent? Create a blog that focuses on your community. Places to eat, small business to support, local charities to get involved in, etc.

Providing value on your website is key, and creating and maintaining your blog is the way to get the job done.

2. More Content, More Opportunites for Potential Customers to Find You

Another SEO factor is keywords. A blog on your website will diversify your content. Let’s take it back to the real estate example. If you are a real estate agent in Spokane, Washington have written a great blog post on the top 3 places for happy hour in the city, you may reach a potential client who is searching for some good happy hour options. Maybe this person isn’t looking to sell or buy a home right now. But you know what? One day they might be, and you never know when you are going to make that connection with someone who resonates with you!

Plus, people remember and buy from someone who they know, like, and trust, right? When they come across your blog and see all of the amazing content you have, they are going to think, “this business/person really knows their stuff!  They are cool! I like them! I wanna be their friend!” And on and on.

Writing SEO friendly blog posts on your website will certainly make you and your business more visible and credible.

3. Repurposing Content Opportunity

Do you have Social Media for your business? I’m guessing, yes.

It is not an easy job creating content for Social Media…a blog will help with that.  Let’s take this blog post for example. I am sharing 3 reasons why your business needs a blog. I can create at least 4 posts out of this…minimum. The first post would be a “check out my new blog post” post. Then I can design 3 different Instagram or Facebook posts for each of the 3 reasons I have here. I can stash these 3 additional posts away in my Social Media bank so that I can use them down the road.

Cool, right?

Here’s the thing…if you want to show up in Google searches and get more visibility, you need a blog. If that’s just not your thing or doesn’t fit in your busy schedule, don’t worry. There are people who do this for a living…wink wink…that’s me…I’m people. If this is something you know if right for you, check out my SEO Content Writing Services! I would love to work with you!
